Q: What was your initial reaction when you found out you had secured All India Rank 3?

Anurag: To be honest, I had an expectation of being among the top 3 ranks. I had an image in my mind that someday the President would call to congratulate me on my rank. I kept working hard, and today, that dream has become a reality. Dreams do come true.

Q: Did you share the news with your parents, and what was their reaction?

Anurag: Yes, I did. My parents and our entire family were surprised, and I take great pride in making my family proud.

Q: Were they also expecting you to secure a rank?

Anurag: Yes, indeed. In the IPCC as well, I secured the 36th rank. So, I had this vision of becoming a topper in the Final as well.

Q: Whom would you like to thank for your success, and is there anyone special you’d like to mention?

Anurag: Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to my mentors, especially Ravi Sir, and my family, who supported me throughout this journey. I completed my articleship at Natvarlal Vepari and Company in Surat, and they provided significant support, both in practical experience and studies.

Q: Anurag, securing AIR 3 is a remarkable achievement. What message do you have for students who couldn’t clear the exam this time?

Anurag: Firstly, I want to emphasize that life isn’t over. There is much left to achieve, and this is just a minor setback. In my opinion, success in the CA Final exam revolves around effective time management. If you can manage your time efficiently, success is within reach.

Q: Could you share any insights into your study schedule and strategy for your juniors?

Anurag: Time management is a personalized aspect. I believe that the day before the exam, you should be confident enough to revise the entire syllabus in one and a half days. So, ideally, one or two months before the exam, try to mimic the exam schedule and aim to complete the entire curriculum within 15 days. This will help you determine if you can revise effectively in that one and a half day. Essentially, success in an examination like CA relies on regular study and time management.

Q: How did you approach significant subjects like DT and Costing?

Anurag: I created handwritten notes for the theoretical subjects, and, in fact, I prepared my own handwritten notes for all subjects. These notes proved to be immensely beneficial.

Q: How did you manage stress during your months of preparation?

Anurag: As I mentioned earlier, I had a clear image of my goals, which helped me cope with stress. I used this image to motivate myself to become a better version of myself.

Q: How important is this achievement for you?

Anurag: I see this as just the beginning of my journey. The real adventure lies ahead. I aspire to work in the corporate sector in the future. While this is a significant achievement, it’s also a stepping stone for my future.

Q: Did you face any hurdles during your exam preparation journey?

Anurag: Life may present hurdles, but effective management is key. I maintained a regular study routine from the beginning, which greatly helped me. My IPCC was in May 2015, and my coaching classes started in August/September, so I was consistent in both coaching and self-study. This consistency helped me avoid major obstacles. I credit my success to my disciplined efforts and time management.

Q: Could you elaborate on the importance of articleship for CA Final students?

Anurag: Articleship is exceptionally important as it provides practical exposure in our field. I believe that my AIR 3 wouldn’t have had the same value without it. Practical exposure is crucial; without it, you cannot succeed. Articleship enables interaction with clients, teaches how to work under pressure, and helps you apply real-world experience when revising subjects during exams.

Q: You mentioned the importance of making your own notes. Could you share more about this practice?

Anurag: Handwritten notes are highly valuable. When you create your notes, you gain a deeper understanding of the content, which aids in retention and quick revision. This approach reduces the time required for review and increases the number of revisions.
