The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has declared the results for CA Final May 2019. It’s worth noting that the pass rates for the CA Final (Old Course) were lower compared to the CA Final (New Course).
Pass Rates for CA Final May 2019 (Old Syllabus):
Group I only: Out of 25,052 candidates who applied, 4,610 passed, with a pass rate of 18.40%.
Group II only: Among 36,945 candidates, 8,762 passed, resulting in a pass rate of 23.72%.
Both Groups (candidates who passed Group I): 15,560 candidates appeared, and 2,127 (13.67%) passed.
Both Groups (candidates who passed Group II): 602 candidates appeared, and 3.87% passed.
Both Groups (candidates who passed both groups): A total of 1,187 candidates (7.63%) successfully passed both groups. This led to 10,816 candidates becoming Chartered Accountants.
Pass Rates for CA Final May 2019 (New Syllabus):
Group I only: Out of 8,894 candidates who applied, 1,500 passed, with a pass rate of 16.87%.
Group II only: Among 6,529 candidates, 1,146 passed, resulting in a pass rate of 17.55%.
Both Groups (candidates who passed Group I): 11,092 candidates appeared, and 1,669 (15.05%) passed.
Both Groups (candidates who passed Group II): 432 candidates appeared, and 3.89% passed.
Both Groups (candidates who passed both groups): A total of 2,313 candidates (20.85%) successfully passed both groups, resulting in 3,369 candidates becoming Chartered Accountants.
Trend Analysis of CA Final May/June 2019 Pass Rates (Old Course):
ICAI declared the results for CA Final May/June 2019 on August 13, 2019, at 5:00 PM. Similar to the previous attempt, the pass rates for CA Final (Old Course) were lower than for CA Final (New Course).
The pass rates for the May/June 2019 attempt exhibited a downward trend compared to the November 2018 attempt. There was a significant decrease of 12.04% in the pass rates for candidates who only appeared for Group 1, with a pass rate of 18.40%. This rate was 30.44% in the previous attempt.
For candidates who appeared for Group 2 only, the pass rate remained relatively consistent at 23.72%, compared to 23.41% in the last attempt. However, the pass rates for candidates who appeared for both groups decreased by 7.4% compared to the previous attempt.
Trend Analysis of CA Final May/June 2019 Pass Rates (New Course):
The pass rates for CA Final May/June 2019 (New Course) saw an upward trend compared to the November 2018 attempt. There was a 2.57% increase in pass rates for candidates who appeared for Group 1, with a pass rate of 16.87%. This rate was 14.30% in the last attempt.
However, the pass rates for candidates who appeared for Group 2 dropped by 9.48% to a pass rate of 17.55%. In the last attempt, it was 27.03%.
For candidates who appeared for both groups, the pass rate increased by 4.36% to 20.85%. In the last attempt, it was 16.49%.
In the results for CA Final May 2019 (New Course), the difference in aggregate percentages among the top three rank holders was marginal. The first rank holder achieved 75.88%, the second rank holder scored 75.50%, and the third rank holder earned 75.00%. It indicated a close competition among students in the New Course.
Overall, these trends show that students secured higher marks compared to the previous attempts. However, they do not represent the overall pass rates. Official pass rates are awaited for a comprehensive analysis.
Top Performers in CA Final May 2019 (Old and New Syllabus):
The top rank holders in the CA Final May 2019 (Old Syllabus) achieved significantly higher marks compared to the previous attempt. For instance, the first rank holder in the November 2018 (Old Syllabus) attempt scored 74.63%, while the May 2019 (Old Syllabus) first rank holder scored 81.25%. Similar improvements were seen for the second and third rank holders.
In the CA Final May 2019 (New Syllabus), the top rank holder scored 75.88%, an increase from the 69.38% achieved by the November 2018 (New Syllabus) top rank holder. The second and third rank holders also showed improvements in their scores.
